We are looking for an Editor to join our team covering Japan’s financial industry and markets. You will partner with a group of reporters and editors to deliver insightful stories, ranging from fast-paced breaking news to thematic features, to our audiences in Japan and around the world. You will have outstanding news judgment to spot trends, generate stories ideas and to coach developing writers. You will also have a multimedia approach, keeping in mind our digital readership.
We’ll trust you to:
- Turn out quick, informative pieces and then follow up with bigger-picture takes
- Build influential relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage captures the context of local developments and resonates globally and across all platforms
- Work with reporters to develop ideas, while bringing your own perspective to add depth and value
- Innovate with story formats while promoting diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
- Embrace the use of machine translation in the editing process as we also take stories written for the Japanese audience and reshape these for English-language readers
You’ll need to have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in business journalism
- Experience in editing
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Attention to detail and a big-picture outlook
- Experience working in a real-time news environment
