Posted by Chris Roush

Bloomberg News is seeking an energetic journalist with sharp news judgement, strong storytelling abilities and outstanding communication skills to oversee our Copenhagen bureau.

We’re seeking someone who loves chasing scoops and has a demonstrated ability to break news. You should be skilled at delivering deeply reported narrative stories on Denmark and tailoring them for our global readership.

You’ll work closely with our team covering companies to be on top of Denmark’s big shipping companies and retail favorites such as Lego, and make sure we own the coverage of weight-loss drugmaker Novo Nordisk, including its outsized impact on the Danish economy. You’ll collaborate with the energy team on Denmark’s wind industry and jump at the chance to write about banks and the world’s biggest covered bond market. We want someone who also has a keen eye for equality stories.

Importantly, you will also act as ambassador for Bloomberg News, setting up roundtable discussions and other events with key newsmakers in Copenhagen.
Your exceptional people skills mean you’re a mentor and role model to others in the bureau. Your job is also to ensure reporters maintain a steady pipeline of stories from pitch to publication, that they are able to navigate the newsroom and that they develop the writing, data and broader skills required to reach audiences on all our platforms.

We’ll trust you to:

  •   Demonstrate exceptional news judgement
  •   Execute clear and comprehensive narrative stories
  •   Work effectively to manage daily news flow and ensure seamless coverage of Denmark
  •   Attract top newsmakers
  •   Manage the internal personnel needs of the office

You will need:

  •   A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  •   Experience working in business journalism and in a real-time news environment
  •   Proven leadership skills and the ability to direct coverage
  •   Interest and skills for story telling
  •   Ability to maintain and develop top-level sources
  •   Strong English and Danish
