Bloomberg News is looking for an experienced, dynamic editor to join its China Credit team in Hong Kong. It’s a crucial period as the nation’s property debt crisis leads to record defaults and unprecedented restructurings. You will play an indispensable role in publishing breaking news and step-backs on some of the world’s most distressed borrowers and how investors are navigating such unprecedented situations.

The team also provides extensive coverage of China’s bond market—the world’s second-biggest—as well as of loans and private credit. You will proactively jump on coverage of these primary debt issuance markets. Whether editing scoops and news analysis on debt financings, secondary-market trading or distressed situations, you will bring accuracy, efficiency, clarity and maximum impact. An editor with an outstanding ability to break down complex topics to explain them clearly for global audiences will excel in this role. Working alongside our Chinese-language colleagues and journalists across teams, you’ll champion collaboration to deliver scoops, keeping us ahead in a fiercely competitive environment.

To succeed, you’ll draw on a passion for championing the work of teammates, strong organization skills, a deep interest in the China credit story, sharp news judgement and the perspective to help contextualize stories in the broader context of global financial markets.

We’ll trust you to:

  •  Help inspire a team with a breadth of knowledge to break even more news and deliver authoritative stories
  •  Deliver accurate and sharp edits to make our content accessible to a diverse audience of business-savvy readers
  •  Dive into headlines, short- and long-form stories and help commission and shepherd enterprise stories that connect the dots
  •  Cut through the noise to focus on the most important news
  •  Collaborate with colleagues across teams, bureaus and continents to break news and give a global perspective to our audience

You’ll need to have:

  •  At least 7 years of recent experience in financial journalism
  •  At least 3 years of experience in a real-time news environment
  •  Experience delivering clear and accurate edits in a timely manner
  •  Demonstrated ability to shape coverage and work effectively with others
  •  A keen understanding of opportunities and risks in credit markets
  •  Proficiency in both spoken and written English
  •  Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
  •  A strong work ethic, including operating calmly under pressure
