Bankrate.com seeks a senior director of content

Our Bankrate team is seeking a Senior Director of Content to lead editorial strategy for Credit Cards content on Bankrate.com and CreditCards.com. This is a dynamic and highly visible role focused on management of editorial staff, closely tracking performance, and working cross-functionally to execute on a shared vision.

The Senior Director of Content will guide a team of writers and editors to ideate and produce articles, guides, reviews and news content to inform and educate our audience. This is a highly collaborative role that will work closely with a range of cross-functional teams, including SEO, brand, engineering, data and design, among others. This role will report into the Finserv Vice President of Content.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and oversee the editorial strategy to increase our share of voice in key verticals, expand into new topics, and explore new content types that resonate with our audience
  • Develop a content calendar, working closely with our SEO teams to ensure our content strategy aligns with SEO objectives
  • Manage and develop a team of editors, providing regular, detailed and actionable feedback to ensure our content is best in class
  • Educate and empower the team to use SEO best practices throughout content, with an emphasis on EAT
  • Set and hold the editorial team accountable to production goals
  • Use subject matter expertise and data to incorporate insights into content strategy
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders across the organization to generate new ideas and account for incoming requests for editorial capacity
  • Track and report editorial performance across editorial and the broader Financial Services team
  • Track the competitive landscape and other innovative brands to identify trends and opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in digital content, editing or media leadership
  • Expert knowledge of the credit card industry
  • A strategic thinker, able to understand the business goals and drive growth and engagement through content while maintaining editorial integrity
  • Experience managing a content calendar and content operations at scale
  • Passion for mentoring and developing a team of editors and writers
  • Experience working cross-functionally and with senior leadership
  • Collaborative mindset and an ability to communicate effectively to cross-functional teams
  • Strong editorial skills and understanding of best practices
  • A deep understanding of SEO best practices and what it takes to create content that ranks (such as EAT and YMYL)
  • Experience with content strategy for a range of content types, such as evergreen SEO articles and news
  • Analytical skills to measure performance and identify growth opportunities
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve editorial experiences and get the resourcing to execute on a vision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
