Ignites, an online daily from the Financial Times, is looking for an associate editor to join its team covering the retail fund industry.
We are the premier publication covering the mutual fund, ETF and 401(k) marketplaces, and a go-to source for industry decision-makers.
The associate editor will be responsible for generating ideas, writing and reporting stories, editing copy and working with reporters. She or he will work in tandem with the managing editor to publish the daily newsletter and special features, and will track the flow of editorial copy, graphics and video. The associate editor has a hand in shaping and selecting stories that appear in the issue and acts as a deputy when the managing editor is out. This role requires attention to detail, a judicious editing eye, sharp writing style, ability to break news and skill needed to develop a broad source network.
The associate editor will join our team in ferreting out scoops and creating must-have content for executives working in the ever-changing asset-management industry. The ideal candidate will relish working a beat, developing a network of sources, deriving narratives from regulatory filings and breaking news. She or he will cover high-profile companies, such as Vanguard, BlackRock, WisdomTree and others that have a direct impact on millions of people’s wealth, retirement and college savings plans.
We break major industry stories and provide analysis that has been picked up by major national papers, including The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. We have been named as the best daily publication by the Specialized Information Publishers Association. We have also received awards for our investigative reporting, analysis and news coverage.
We welcome creative ideas for presenting information to our readers across print, graphic and video platforms. Applicants should be flexible and comfortable working as part of a team.
