FT seeks deputy editor for FT Edit

December 9, 2021

Posted by Chris Roush

We are looking for a highly imaginative and adventurous editor for a new app that the FT plans to launch next year in the UK.

The app aims to introduce a new audience to FT journalism by featuring a selection of our best longform writing on the big issues of the day.

The editor will already be reading deeply across the whole of the FT, will have outstanding judgment, will be meticulous about planning, and both flexible and curious in their approach.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small team contributing to the first major product the FT has launched for several years, and one that, if successful, is likely to be rolled out internationally.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace

At the FT, we aim for employees across all regions to have a voice so that diverse perspectives are heard and valued. We believe that a supportive workplace is one where employees feel they can be themselves at work and have the flexibility they need to meet their personal needs. We’ll continue to remove barriers for all, and in particular barriers facing employees from underrepresented groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with the editor to run the app.

  • Liaise with the app’s visual editor and data analyst to ensure we are consistently improving and refining the offering.

  • Think creatively and imaginatively about the evolution of the app.

Essential Skills

  • Reporting and editing experience are essential.

  • Proven ability to build excellent relationships across editorial departments.

  • A basic understanding of data analysis.
