The FT’s global asset management team has a vacancy for a US investment editor. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an expanding team that is at the heart of our financial services coverage in the New York newsroom.
We’re seeking an experienced correspondent who is keen to oversee reporting on the colorful personalities and companies in a sector that looks after trillions of dollars in assets. The ideal candidate will be able to help lead our expanding focus to the non-bank giants on Wall Street, working with younger reporters as well as generating splash-worthy scoops and craft insightful news-in-depth pieces.
They will lead our coverage of asset managers and hedge funds like BlackRock, Citadel Bridgewater and Pimco, which collectively oversee trillions of dollars in funds under management and have, in several instances, supplanted the traditional Wall Street players as the drivers of financial trends. The successful candidate will be expected to range widely to show how investment decisions being made by the new titans of Wall Street are coloring the way global finance operates.
The US investment editor will also help guide other reporters in the New York office on investment trends, capital flows and money managers’ views on issues like monetary policy, geopolitical risk and other market-moving events. A strong track record of working across desks and time zones is essential. They will work closely with Harriet Agnew, the London-based asset management editor, and the other financial services reporters in London, New York and Asia. The team will work closely with the markets and Due Diligence teams to create more comprehensive coverage of Wall Street.
