Fresno Business Journal seeks reporter

The Business Journal is looking for a business-savvy reporter to cover B2B news in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California.

We seek someone who has strong traditional journalism skills and is also familiar with online and social media best practices. Multimedia and business reporting experience is preferred, especially in the field of health care.

Key duties:

• Cultivating relationships with sources that lead to breaking news

• Contributing analytical/trend stories for the weekly print edition

• Updating thebusinessjournal.com with daily wire and original stories

• Developing and growing an audience across all platforms

The Business Journal is an independent, family-owned publishing company founded in 1886 and based in Fresno. Our journalism has earned awards from the local to national level, and the newsroom prides itself on being lean and mean. We have the independence to move fast and break news as well as drill down deep for the analysis business owners and executives need.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
