We’re looking to hire a part-time travel writer for a new website we’re launching, which will soon be available at TravelCharlottesville.com. The ideal candidate will create engaging, original text and video content about topics of interest to travelers visiting Charlottesville, VA.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Be Still Getaways is a short-term, boutique rental management company located in Central Virginia. We pride ourselves on curating a seamless and memorable guest experience.  From the luxury amenities we offer, to the tiny details we place in each space, we strive to provide every guest with a five-star experience. We value strong communication with our guests and property owners and put the cleanliness of our units as a top priority.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • We’d like you to start by creating 20 articles and 10 videos.
  • You get to explore Charlottesville on our dime. We’ll cover your expenses to enjoy local restaurants and activities.

Each article needs to add value to our readers by incorporating in-depth research on the topic at hand, and the content needs to be written in a unique, compelling, friendly, and approachable voice.

Each video needs to feel authentic and personal, and it needs to help answer the main questions viewers will have: What should I do when visiting Charlottesville, and how can this video help me decide the best itinerary for me and my family?

Every video and article should end with a brief discussion and call to action about staying at one of our two main local boutique hotels, one of which is located a block from the historic downtown mall, and the other of which is in the heart of the Belmont neighborhood.

If it’s a good fit for all parties, then we’ll cover other local markets in cities adjacent to Charlottesville next and an ongoing working relationship is possible.

Location: Qualified writers must be located in or near Charlottesville, VA.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

  • Three recent samples of original articles you’ve written
  • Links to videos you’ve created
  • A link to any social media accounts or webpages you run
  • Cover letter that answers the following questions:Why are you interested in working as a travel writer?
    What experience do you have writing SEO-optimized content (search engine optimization)?
    What is your availability? How soon can you start, and how many hours per week are you able to devote to this project?

COMPENSATION

  • $250 per article (approx. 2,000 words each) and $250 per video (approx. 5 to 10 minutes in length)
