Fredericksburg paper seeks business editor

The Free Lance –Star, a daily newspaper in historic Fredericksburg, Va., 50 miles south of Washington D.C., has an opening for an experienced reporter/writer/editor. Must have a bachelor’s degree in related field, at least 2 years of reporting experience and a strong work ethic.

The Fredericksburg Business Insider Editor is responsible for producing a daily business email newsletter with business-to-business news focused on the Fredericksburg business community. This newsletter features FLS stories as well as other area business headlines and news nuggets that are emailed to subscribers.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

1. Producing business stories and content for the daily Fred Biz newsletter, Fredericksburg.com and the Free Lance-Star.

2. Building the email newsletter, using links to Fredericksburg.com and other sources, and sending it out to subscribers each morning, Monday thru Friday.

3. Developing sources in the business community who can provide news tips.

4. Covering general assignments and other duties as assigned.
