Fox Weather seeks an assignment editor

Fox Weather is looking for an Assignment Editor to join our team in New York. The Assignment Editor will carry out assigned duties and act as an ambassador for Fox Weather.

You will answer phones, coordinate live shot requests, clear user-generated content (UGC), monitor active or urgent weather, gather information and content, and assist in other desk duties. A passion for weather combined with curiosity and flexibility to jump into any task will help you excel on the desk.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate requests for reporter and meteorologist live shots between Fox Weather and other platforms
  • Gather and communicate information and content on breaking and ongoing weather stories
  • Maintain awareness of active and breaking weather and elevate urgent situations to others
  • Monitor social media and clear User-Generated Content (UGC)
  • Book live shots, live feeds, and studios
  • Support all functions of the assignment desk as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, meteorology or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of broadcast experience in a network or local newsroom
  • Strong editorial judgment and logistical skills
  • Willingness to work weekends and early mornings
  • Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced, intense atmosphere
  • Motivated, self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity
  • Ability to monitor social media for news

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $65,500.00-77,500.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY.
