The technology industry has perhaps never been more important or more hotly debated than it is right now. Fortune is looking for a sharp, organized, and ambitious journalist in San Francisco to creatively and fearlessly cover the industry.
You will:
—Have enthusiasm for digging out the stories behind the successes, missteps, and failures of technologists, entrepreneurs, and executives.
—Have familiarity with how the rapid accumulation of money, ideas, and power, fueled by technology, has impacted markets and transformed industries across the globe.
—Write breaking news stories, investigative articles, profiles, analysis, and feature stories about key people and companies in the tech industry.
—Collaborate with Fortune editors to refine your work, think through story ideas, and sharpen your words.
—Be unafraid to present your reporting and analysis to an audience, whether in print, in person, or on camera.
You are:
—Experienced. You will have no less than one year’s experience as a reporter, writer, or editor covering an industry. (Experience covering the tech industry in particular is a plus but not required.) You know how to take a complicated subject and break it down into something that’s understandable and interesting to our readers.
—Engaged. Your work ethic is formidable. Your competitive streak is healthy. Your collegiality is admirable.
—Digital. You understand how digital information is distributed today and are willing to tell stories in different ways for different mediums.
—Excited. Fortune aims to be a vibrant destination for tech coverage. You’re ready to embody and evangelize that mission with aggressive reporting.
The position is based in San Francisco and reports to the Senior Editor for technology.
