Fortune seeks a health and biotech reporter

Fortune is hiring a creative, enterprising journalist to be our go-to health reporter. It has never been more important to examine all aspects of healthcare, and we’re looking for a reporter who can think critically about the forces shaping health, medicine, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals and produce stories that stand out.
You will:
– Report and write a mix of quick hits and in-depth stories, including short and longform features and profiles
– Break news and advance the story everyone is talking about with fresh insight
– Craft explanatory journalism to help readers navigate public health crisis
– Revamp our weekly health and science newsletter, The Capsule, and make it your own
– Bring a health and science point of view to newsroom-wide brainstorms and conversations
– Participate in Fortune events, including our signature Brainstorm Health conference, with the opportunity to shape our live journalism on these topics
– Ensure our coverage includes a diversity of ideas, perspectives, and voices
– Uphold Fortune’s standards of journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness
The right candidate…

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
