Fortune.com seeks journalist to run Entrepreneur section

Fortune is looking for a sharp, organized and ambitious journalist to lead its Entrepreneur vertical. Reporting to the Digital Editor, this is a key role for a content producer-leader hybrid prepared to collaboratively drive the editorial strategy of an iconic brand.

You will:

  • Develop and implement an editorial strategy for digital coverage of entrepreneurs and the issues that matter most to them
  • Understand the entrepreneurial mindset and the universal challenges business owners face
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sources and contacts
  • Develop a robust online community around the topic of entrepreneurialism
  • Oversee and edit a team of writers and contributors, motivating team success and promoting a culture of collaboration
  • Collaborate with various teams at Fortune, including video, marketing and sales to ensure the vertical meets strategic goals

You have:

  • Experience. You have 2-5 years of experience as writer or editor with a focus on start-ups, entrepreneurs and the issues they face. You know how to take a complicated subject and break it down into something that’s understandable and interesting to our audience. Experience running your own business is a major plus.
  • Engaged. You love what you do. Period. Your work ethic is formidable. Your competitive streak is healthy. Your ability to guide junior and senior reporters alike is admirable.
  • Digital. You’re familiar with the social web and how digital information is distributed today. You understand how to play on a distributed and digital editorial team. You’re willing to rethink existing editorial processes to make them more effective.
  • Excited. Show, don’t tell. Fortune aims to be a vibrant destination for coverage of entrepreneurialism. When we invite you in for an interview, we’ll be able to feel your preparedness for embodying and evangelizing that mission through examples of past work, a clear vision for digital growth and an enthusiasm unable to be matched.
