Forbes seeks senior producers

Forbes Media seeks senior producers to be active participants in our expanding newsroom for the era of social media.

Senior producers will work directly with editors, reporters, data analysts, social media editors and others to produce and package daily and feature content for our domestic audience of 35 million and another 10 million international visitors.

You will work side-by-side with staff reporters in key subject areas, such as business, technology, investing, entrepreneurs and leadership, as well help manage a one-of-a-kind network of 1,500 contributors – other journalists, authors, academics and business leaders. The job will provide opportunities for writing and reporting and creative multimedia packaging.

Responsibilities include:

  • Produce new content and repackage archival content based on news of the day.
  • Monitor breaking news and alert staff and contributors to aid their coverage ability.
  • Build topic packages/landers and special sections in real time to best showcase and exploit our work for the web site.
  • Work with photo editors to produce relevant galleries and team up with graphic artists to build data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with social team to highlight and showcase the work of contributors and staff.
  • Work on front lines of channel and section pages. Read and edit (as appropriate) content on the channel and site and fix issues when discovered.
  • Write and post stories on Forbes.com.
  • Train and support outside contributors on how to use and optimize Forbes publishing tools.
  • Facilitate communication between Forbes editors and contributors.
  • Work with audience development to monitor traffic trends and help staffers and contributors to capitalize on it.
  • Update channel and section pages to keep them fresh and interesting. Update home page and special sections when required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant work or internship experience in digital journalism or related area
  • Hands-on experience with publishing platforms (Tumblr, WordPress, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently when required while at the same time operate efficiently in a team dynamic
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and a keen eye for detail
