Footwear News seeks a senior business editor

Footwear News is hiring a dynamic editor to direct business news coverage for our fast-growing website, which attracts more than 8 million unique users a month. We are seeking a deadline-driven reporter and editor who works best in a collaborative environment that is fast-paced and energetic.

The Senior Editor, Business will work with a team of writers and editors to report, write and edit breaking news, in-depth features and data-rich analysis stories aimed at senior fashion, retail and footwear executives and key decision-makers from across the industry.

The editor will cover the burning issues that are shaping the future of fashion, including diversity, workplace culture, sustainability, the evolving role of a retailer, the digital revolution, the business of the industry and much more. In addition to writing in-depth stories, the senior editor, business will also work with other editors to shape and edit the daily news lineup.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years as a business reporter or editor; daily journalism/website experience is preferred.
  • Excellent editing and writing skills are a must.
  • Must be proficient in WordPress.
  • Must be proficient in analyzing data and working with analytics/SEO teams to ensure performance on site, as well as across multiple digital platforms.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
