Fierce Healthcare seeks a reporter

FierceMarkets, a division of Questex LLC, a B2B online media company based in Washington, D.C., has an immediate opening for an experienced, full-time editor to cover the health care industry for FierceHealthcare.com. This position is based in Washington, D.C. but exceptional applicants may be considered for a telework position.

The editor will be responsible for daily news reporting on topics such as health insurance and health finance. They will work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and will help produce special reports and other editorial projects.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the business of health care, a commitment to editorial quality, a passion for social platforms and digital tools and the ability to establish a trusted relationship with our readers.

Job Description:

  •  Identify and write daily online news stories, long-form features and special reports, targeted to a sophisticated audience of health care executives and leaders.
  •  Attend key conferences and trade shows as the public face of FierceHealthcare; cover news from the show, take briefings, and moderate panels and events.
  •  Actively engage and build audiences using SEO tactics and social media best practices.

Qualifications:

  •  1+ year editorial experience. Experience covering the health insurance industry preferred.
  •  Degree in journalism/communications.
  •  Experience with daily online journalism, general understanding of SEO tactics, and familiarity with social media platforms.
  •  Ability to create original content and identify topics that will resonate with readers.
  •  Familiarity with a content management system.
  •  A positive attitude, a “fierce” work ethic and desire to work on a winning team. We need someone who wants to beat the competition every day.
