FedScoop seeks tech reporter

FedScoop, the leading online news publication serving the federal government technology market, is expanding its editorial team. We are seeking a full-time reporter to cover all things government technology, including trends and policies.

Candidates should have at least three years’ technology reporting experience, ideally in online media, and familiarity with federal agencies.

Our office is located in the heart of Georgetown, just off Wisconsin Avenue.

Job responsibilities:

– Writing in-depth enterprise stories on technology, and interviewing government and industry thought leaders for personality profiles.

– Covering daily news related to technology and federal agencies.

– Researching and crafting monthly or quarterly FedScoop Tech Briefs on various technologies (big data, cyber, cloud, mobile, open source, etc.) or trending issues to educate decision makers, legislators and other influencers in government and industry.

– Writing and editing white papers.

– Attending and covering related events to stay on top of emerging trends and strengthen ties with the federal IT community.

Skills:

– Outstanding news judgment, with an ability to manage multiple assignments and report and write on tight deadlines.

– Ability to hit the ground running and work independently as well as part of a team.

– Degree in journalism preferred.

– Working knowledge of AP Style.

– Strong grasp of grammar, attention to detail and exceptional people skills.

– Knowledge of SEO and WordPress preferred.
