Elko Daily Free Press seeks a general assignment reporter

The Elko Daily Free Press is seeking a versatile reporter to help us serve readers in Northeastern Nevada.

As part of our small but ambitious staff, you’ll hustle to break news on our web and mobile platforms, while pursuing in-depth enterprise reports. This position covers all sorts of different stories, from breaking news to in-depth stories that examine important issues in the community.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will have an inquisitive mind
  • Sharp writing skills
  • An appreciation for life in a small town.
  • Photo and social media skills would be a plus.
  • The ability to produce timely reports in today’s instant digital news environment is a must.
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and  experience in multi-media journalism is preferred.
