The Social Media Producer works with teams across the company, including editors, reporters, audience development team, to execute our social media strategy by crafting and scheduling organic posts and paid ads, as well as managing editorial, advertising, marketing, and grant-related campaigns. You are responsible for measuring social impact, moderating social conversations, and providing guidance and training to staff on social media best practices. We’re looking for someone who can ensure our social feeds adhere to the high journalistic standards we set for our content while executing smart strategies to increase engagement and trust with loyal fans and new readers. This is an entry-level position, reporting to the Director of Social Media and Audience Engagement.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Write and schedule organic posts for official EdWeek accounts on major platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok)
- Co-manage paid social media ad campaigns on Facebook and LinkedIn
- Collaborate with the Visuals team to create social media graphics and assist with creating TikTok videos
- Write and/or collaborate on articles or interactive formats like quizzes that incorporate reader and/or social media user responses
- Support and execute campaigns for editorial, marketing, grant-supported, and branded initiatives and suggest ways to optimize performance in the future
- Contribute to our evolving social strategy by identifying ways to reach our social goals.
- Understand the social media universe and stay current with social media trends, tools, platforms and resources to achieve the best performance possible
- Regularly synthesize and share reader sentiment with the editorial team via daily news meeting
- Must have excellent writing and editing skills, strong news judgment, the ability to work collaboratively, and 1+ years of experience in social media marketing and/or journalism
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Video editing experience is preferred.
