Eater Atlanta is looking for writers to submit content about local restaurants, dining news and more.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Eater Atlanta is a local news and service site based in the city of Atlanta reporting on restaurants and bars, dining and dining trends, food pop-ups and food trucks, and the business of restaurants throughout Atlanta and metro Atlanta. It is part of the Eater network and under the Vox Media umbrella, based out of New York City.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for stories about local restaurant and dining news; dining/cuisine maps; in-depth dining/cuisine guides; food explainers and food crawls; reported restaurant/chef/local food industry features; and photography and illustrated stories featuring local restaurants and dining.

We are looking for pitches to have a strong voice, fact-based conclusions, and/or direct personal experience. We expect your pitch to have a clear angle and subject matter. We will be looking at how the story is structured, how it concludes, and why this piece is relevant to Atlanta. Eater Atlanta follows AP (Associated Press) style in tandem with Eater’s editorial guidelines.

Make sure to include the word “Pitch” in the subject line with a very brief description of the story. Give us a short summary of who you are, your background, and links to your best previous work or an online portfolio.

COMPENSATION

  • Between .50 and .75 per word based on the amount of work involved in a specific story or guide. Sometimes a flat rate is agreed on. Figures can range from $200 for a small feature story or guide of 500 to 800 words to averaging as high as $875 for stories ranging between 1000 to 1200 words. We pay on a bimonthly basis.
