East Oregonian has an immediate opening for a full-time staff reporter to join our award-winning team of journalists.
This position covers general assignments and writes features, news stories, personality profiles and more as needed. This position could mean springing to action to report on a blazing fire or sifting through data to find out how local governments are spending public money. The successful candidate must be able to develop story ideas, develop sources, prepare website and social media updates, meet deadlines and work in a cooperative team environment. The successful candidate should also be comfortable using social media platforms.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other EO Media Group properties on content teams reporting stories of interest to readers in the region and state.
Journalism education and/or experience required. Photography skills are a plus but not a requirement. Fluency in Spanish would be helpful. We are looking for someone who is seeking to develop a long-term career in journalism. An understanding of this region is a plus.
