The Asia Real-time desk is looking for a Copy Editor to handle editing and publication of breaking news to Dow Jones Newswires and WSJ.com.

The successful candidate will be responsible for editing stories from around the region, publishing to WSJ.com and our professional newswires. You’ll interact with reporters and editors covering different beats (eg. autos, technology, markets) and face tight deadlines and constant decisions requiring you to exercise strong news judgment and reader interest and behavior.

The right person will have editing or reporting experience, a passion for business news, a strong understanding of online readership, and a desire to make us first and best across all of Dow Jones’s real-time platforms. An ability to edit cleanly and present news in an engaging way is critical, as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across continents.

The editor must be able to work nimbly across coverage areas to ensure the most efficient and effective publication and presentation of articles to digital subscribers. The editor must have the ability to handle everything from the first flash to the final update, from breaking news to longer-form, spot features and analysis.

A strong understanding of the issues affecting Asian economies and business is crucial, as is prior experience of editing. Specialty knowledge of a particular coverage area (e.g. markets/business/economics) would be an advantage. The job would involve weekend work from time to time.
