Dow Jones seeks Market Talk reporter in London

Dow Jones is seeking a reporter to join its London-based team focused on Market Talk, a stream of real-time analysis and insight for professional customers.

Market Talk is a unique Dow Jones product offering smart, short-form analysis of movements in equities, bonds, currencies, economics and commodities.

Market Talk reporters also send headlines on market movements, produce summaries of Market Talks that speak to a particular market trend or which relate to coverage of a significant event.

The Market Talk product consists of punchy, real-time items in English in 100 words or fewer. Writing good Market Talks requires strong relationships with analysts and traders and a deep understanding of day-to-day market dynamics.

Successful candidates will have very strong written English, be able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment and have the ability to draw out smart analysis from ongoing market moves. Strong numeracy, communication and team-work skills are a must.

Familiarity with cross-asset class strategy and funds, or candidates with some knowledge of bond or currency markets, or both, would be an advantage.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
