September 30, 2020

College juniors, seniors and graduate students interested in paid summer internships working in top newsrooms across the country can now apply to the Dow Jones News Fund (DJNF) for a summer experience like no other.

DJNF provides free hands-on, pre-internship training; weekly salaries of at least $450 for a minimum of 10 weeks; $1,500 scholarships; and access to the DJNF alumni network for mentoring and job connections.

Students choose among four programs (and can apply for more than one):

  • Data journalism
  • Digital media
  • Business reporting
  • Multiplatform editing

DJNF interns trained and worked remotely in 2020. The News Fund has not determined if the 2021 training programs and internships will be remote, in-person or a mix.

If the pre-internship trainings are in-person the News Fund will pay for interns’ travel, housing and meals. Interns are responsible for their housing and transportation costs during their internships. Students who return to school or have federal loans will receive $1,500 in college scholarships. To apply for a DJNF internship, students must complete an online application, attach supporting documentation and take a timed online test by Nov. 9, 2020.
