Millions of readers turn to Investopedia’s daily informative news to explain complicated and intimidating financial concepts and decisions, including Saturday and Sunday. We are looking for a sharp editor who can work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT, plus two other days of the week TBD. This position carries a lot of responsibility and requires exceptional news judgment and a proven ability to work under pressure with colleagues in New York on breaking news and features and curating the homepage.
About Your Contributions:
- Think creatively and plan unique story angles that will appeal to a weekend reader curious about how the news applies to their finances
- Identify the most important and relevant angles on the day’s top stories that explain the why, not just the what
- Assign, edit, publish, and promote content independently throughout the weekend
- Assist the weekday news team with editing on tight deadlines
- Recruit, develop, and manage news writers
About You:
The ideal candidate is a news junkie and an experienced journalist with a history of working with well-recognized outlets on financial and business news.
- 4 to 6 years of experience publishing financial markets news with well-respected outlets
- Strong editorial skills, including demonstrated experience line editing for content improvements, grammar, and AP style
- A keen knowledge of personal finance and economics
- Exceptional news judgment
- Superior organizational skills
- Excellent project and people management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
Pay Range: Salary: $64,000 – $80,000
