Dolan paper in North Carolina seeks reporter

The Dolan Media Co. is seeking a reporter to join North Carolina Lawyers Weekly covering the law, the legal profession and the real estate community in North Carolina and South Carolina. The ideal candidate will be comfortable writing, reporting and news gathering for both digital and print.

We write the stories that keep legal and real estate professionals at the top of their games and provide insight on legal decisions for lawyers, Realtors, developers and business leaders in both states.

We need a utility player who can switch between data gathering, reporting breaking news and writing in-depth news pieces and features. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can generate story ideas as well as field assignments from editors. A solid knowledge of AP Style and grammar is required, as is the ability to write clear, concise copy.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
