Detroit News seeks an auto reporter

The Business Desk of the Detroit News is seeking an enterprising reporter to join its award-winning Autos Team – emphasis on team.

The ideal candidate would be a self-starting beat reporter hungry for both regional and national competition. You’ll join reporters, an auto critic, a Washington correspondent and the business columnist to cover the global auto industry as it adapts to a fast-changing automotive landscape, challenges from Silicon Valley and the morphing world of mobility and electrification.

You’ll do a mix of breaking news, enterprise and will be expected to source across the automakers, suppliers, think tanks and lawmakers. Comfort working collaboratively is strongly desired.

Please submit a resume, cover letter and 3-5 samples of your work to Managing Editor Kelley Root, kroot@detroitnews.com.
