Debtwire seeks reporter in New York

Debtwire, part of The Mergermarket Group, the leading global provider of intelligence and research on the fixed income market has an immediate opening in its New York Office.

This position requires a minimum of one to two years of financial journalism experience. As a reporter, the successful candidate will produce timely and accurate stories on companies with funded debt of $150 million or less. Coverage includes middle market debt issues throughout their life cycle — from primary issuance through restructuring and bankruptcy.

Requirements include a passion for scoops and strong writing skills. You will publish copy on a daily basis as well as produce bi-weekly and quarterly features. This is an opportunity to write and report on situations not well covered by the mainstream press.

You must be able to work independently by hitting the phones and networking to build up your sources as well as collaboratively with a dynamic team of journalists and analysts.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
