Debtwire seeks distressed debt reporter

Debtwire, the leading financial newswire for the fixed income markets, is looking for a driven journalist to cover the distressed debt market.

Working on a fast-paced news desk, candidates will be expected to chase leads and publish news ahead of all other media outlets on corporate restructurings, distressed debt sales, private companies’ performance and regulatory changes in the insolvency world.

The role requires an analytical mind, a high attention to detail and a proactive approach to relationship development and source building in the advisory and investor communities.

The role is entirely focused on off-diary reporting and reporters are expected to use their own initiative to uncover leads from market sources.

European languages, especially French or Spanish, are an advantage.

The position will offer the opportunity for foreign travel and moderating at conferences.

The successful candidate will have:

• Aspirations to break news and deliver actionable intelligence on sub investment grade debt issuers;

• An investigative mind and good writing skills;

• An understanding of fixed income markets, a strong grasp of and an interest in the broader financial markets;

• Outstanding networking and contact building skills.

• Excellent time management and communication skills;

• A self-starter attitude with a cooperative approach;
