Dealreporter seeks consumer and industrials M&A reporter

Dealreporter, an online financial news service read by deal makers and investors, is looking for a reporter based in New York to cover M&A deals and corporate strategy in the consumer/retail and industrial sectors.
Both industries are in flux as mega industrial conglomerates like General Electric attempt to break up and consumer and retail firms respond to ever increasing competition from Amazon.  As Dealreporter’s consumer and industrials reporter,  you will be responsible for breaking news on potential deals in these sectors and conducting in-depth reporting on announced transactions. You will be working with an established team of investigative journalists based across the US, Europe and Asia to cover this high-profile beat.
The right candidate needs to be able to generate original story ideas, make new sources and quickly pick up financial information. An existing source book of sector or M&A sources is preferred, though applicants with a strong networking ability will be considered.
Key Skills:
  • Keen interest in mergers and acquisitions
  • Ability to pick up on trends and develop original angles for stories
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • 2 or more years of experience in financial journalism or a strong track record of scoops on another beat
