Dallas Morning News seeks Big Boom Hub editor

Dallas-Fort Worth is experiencing explosive growth and we’re looking for a visionary editor who can identify and act on its challenges and opportunities in the nation’s fourth largest metropolitan market.

Our Big Boom Hub is integral to The Dallas Morning News’ transition to a digital-first newsroom. Its reporters cover fast-moving topics (real estate, aviation, the economy, transportation) that truly shape the region’s economic vitality. It requires a sharp-minded editor who not only demands read-it-here-first daily news coverage but who also sees the big picture in how these topics interconnect.

This team is expected to drive digital traffic, build audience with consumer-oriented and insightful coverage, and produce high-impact stories unrivaled across the country. The ideal leader of this hub will come armed with ideas for individual and team coverage that build on decades of business journalism excellence at The News.

DFW is one of the most vibrant business journalism markets in the country, with a blend of Fortune 500 companies, legacy family businesses, ambitious startups and industry leaders. This hub includes two of the nation’s top airlines (American and Southwest) operating from two growing airports, including the fourth busiest in the U.S. and a key economic driver for the region.

This is a demanding position that requires an editor who is comfortable and skilled at serving distinct audiences through digital, social and print platforms. Editing experience is preferred, but high-performing reporters looking to become team leaders also will be considered.
