Dallas Business Journal seeks tech reporter

The Dallas Business Journal is seeking a technology reporter. The successful candidate will cover technology and entrepreneurs through a financial lens, paying specific attention to fast-growing middle-market companies, large public and private firms and a flourishing startup community. The primary mission will be to own technology coverage in North Texas, from deal flow to cybersecurity, in one of the most competitive business news markets in the nation.

Key duties of the position:

  • Break news by identifying companies and executives who are or will become difference-makers.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with sources, specifically in technology and in the financial sector that serves that community. This position must be able to leverage relationships with those sources to deliver exclusive content.
  • Produce daily TechFlash newsletter
  • Contribute analytical stories for the weekly edition, including a branded reporter hub page
  • Develop and grow your audience across all platforms, including social media

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Must be able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously; effective time-management skills are essential
  • Understanding of financial and business news concepts is critical: Form Ds, along with other regulatory documents, including intellectual property filings and more
  • Professional written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • 2-3 years of journalism experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
