The Daily Post is seeking a reporter for the night shift (1-10 p.m.) who can cover a broad range of beats and juggle multiple stories. We want a reporter with a nose for news, who can manage their time, develop sources, is comfortable using digital resources and doesn’t give up when an official says “no comment.”
We are looking for someone who is available for a few weeks. This is the perfect opportunity for a freelancer or experienced reporter who is looking for some short-term work.
In this job, if you’re asked to cover a government meeting, you should be capable of submitting a deadline story and, the next day, writing an in-depth piece with multiple sources. The successful candidate will have experience filing public information requests, and knowing how to respond when those requests are denied.
We expect a reporter to be well-read and on top of the local news scene. The reporter should be prepared to handle any story that might come up.
The reporter should produce clean copy that’s tightly written.
