Daily Coffee News is looking for coffee writers

We’re seeking skilled writers who are passionate about coffee but even more passionate about high-quality ethical journalism and storytelling with an eye towards sustainability, social justice and corporate accountability.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Daily Coffee News, a leading news site covering the specialty coffee industry in partnership with Roast magazine, is seeking skilled and enthusiastic freelance business news reporters.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a news reporter, you will work directly with the editor on assignments covering a broad range of timely business topics within the specialty coffee industry in the United States and beyond.

Business news reporters have the freedom to work remotely and on their own schedules, although a weekly commitment if 1-2 stories is preferred. This is a freelance/contractor position with competitive pay on a per-story basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and pitch news stories to the editor
  • Conduct phone and/or emailed interviews for breaking news and feature stories
  • Conduct research and background information
  • Write and submit stories for publication in Daily Coffee News

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong news writing skills, including strict attention to accuracy, impeccable grammar and a clear and concise writing style
  • Understanding of journalism ethics, particularly as it applies to business to business (B2B journalism)
  • Ability to conduct live interviews and occasionally ask difficult questions

COMPENSATION

  • $35-$40 an hour
