Job Description

What we can offer you

The ideal candidate will have a high news metabolism and be attuned to the tech industry, pop culture and the blend of the two. He or she must also have demonstrated skills to write quick stories and deeply-reported articles that weave interviews, profile material, anecdotes, and exclusive details into compelling narratives. The Reporter then must be able to effectively communicate those stories across TV, radio, the Web and social media.

Responsibilities:

Research/write multiple items per day on technology and tech culture.
Examine copy for accuracy, checking all factual information, quotes, and statistics.
Interview newsmakers and tastemakers on these subjects.
Contribute to breaking news coverage of major events.
Produce additional video, photo, or social content as needed

Qualifications

What you bring to us

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
Willingness to collaborate with other reporters, editors, and media partners.
Strong research, writing, and reporting skills.
Proven skill as a narrative writer and story teller.
Fluency in social media—both to find and promote stories.
Strong knowledge of the tech industry, pop culture, and viral moments.
A self-starter who can conceive and execute stories with impact.
Ability to take initiative, receive constructive feedback, and work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated capacity to work well in a team environment.
Will be based out of San Francisco or will to move to the Bay Area.
