Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough research and investigate news stories across a wide range of topics, including politics, city government, schools, police/courts, business, culture, and more.
• Write engaging, accurate, and concise articles.
• Cover breaking news events and deliver timely and informative reports.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts.
• Pitch creative and compelling story ideas to editors.
• Take photographs and videos to enhance storytelling through multimedia content.
• Contribute to digital platforms, including social media, blogs, and video reports.
• Use InDesign to paginate pages.

Requirements:

• Experience as a newspaper reporter preferred.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• An understanding of journalistic ethics and standards.
• Proficiency in digital media tools and social media platforms.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new topics and beats.
