Credit Union Times seeks executive editor

The Credit Union Times, an ALM publication, seeks an executive editor to run the publication.

Responsibilities:

  • The executive editor carries out the strategy set forth in collaboration with the publisher/editor-in-chief. CU Times’ primary content objective is to create content that will help credit union executives and professionals do their jobs better and advance their careers.
  • Manage editorial team and work with internal centralized resources to produce content, which includes but is not limited to online, print, white papers, surveys, news, special reports, newsletters, live events, virtual events, videos and other material as needed.
  • Oversee production of weekly magazine and as-it-happens web postings, as well as social media strategy.
  • Responsible for increasing traffic, engagement and circulation.
  • Develop and implement new editorial products to engage readers, expand audience and support business objectives.
  • Exceptional judgment and problem solving skills, results-focused business orientation.
  • Manage editorial expense budget appropriately.
  • Provide advice and direction on story angles, sourcing, etc. to managing editor and reporters.
  • Contribute relevant columns and articles as appropriate
  • Represent CU Times at industry functions and building sources and contacts to help improve coverage and strengthen ties with the credit union community.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Excellent writing skills and copy editing skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of editing experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study
  • Editing for content and style experience required
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality journalism
  • Working knowledge of digital media
  • Knowledge of financial institutions, particularly credit unions, is preferred
