Crain’s Detroit seeks an audience engagement editor

Crain’s Detroit Business seeks to hire an audience engagement editor to help connect our award-winning journalism with new readers and strengthen our relationship with existing audiences. From story ideation to promotion, the audience engagement editor will play a key role in the newsroom, ensuring that we deliver news and information as effectively as possible.

This person will oversee Crain’s Detroit Business newsletters, social media posts and desktop and app notifications, working closely with other editors to deliver — and break — news across platforms. While the focus of this role will be off-platform engagement, the audience engagement editor will also be a newsroom leader in search engine optimization, headline testing and alternative story forms.

The audience engagement editor will work closely with the director of audience engagement to develop and implement data-informed newsroom best practices related to audience engagement, closely monitoring their performance and refining and experimenting as needed.

Applicants should have at least three years of experience in a fast-paced, competitive newsroom, as well as experience with analytics tools such as Chartbeat, Metrics for News and Adobe Analytics.
