Crain’s Chicago Business is looking for a reporter to cover the residential real estate market as an independent contractor.
The reporter’s work would anchor the Residential Report, a twice-weekly news email. We are looking for an enterprising and versatile reporter to produce exclusive stories about the local housing market, from scoops about new residential developments to analytical, data-driven pieces that provide consumers and industry professionals with new insights about market conditions.
The reporter also would write several stories a week on recent home transactions and compile a weekly photo gallery featuring a home recently put up for sale. In addition, the reporter would have the opportunity to write stories for Crain’s weekly print edition.
Applicants should have several years of daily news-reporting experience, either in print or online. Previous business reporting experience would be an advantage, but is not required. Key factors in our selection will be an ability to develop sources, break news, analyze data and understand the fundamentals of the housing market.
