The Craig Press is looking for a dynamic journalist who can be a jack-of-all-trades, handling writing, editing and some photography responsibilities, in addition to managing the newspaper’s digital assets.
Responsibilities:
• Write timely and accurate news articles for the newspaper, website and special publications. Stories should adhere to AP style with correct grammar and spelling.
• Edit and proofread coverage and community submissions for publication online and in print
• Work collaboratively with other members of the news team to coordinate coverage plans
• Process community submissions, including photos and columns
• Receive and respond to feedback, questions and complaints from readers and sources with input from the editor
• Take photographs and/or video to coincide with news events
• Post content to the web and manage website and social media accounts
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• Some writing and reporting experience
• Great oral and written communication skills
• Sound news judgment
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• The ability to work some nights and weekends
Salary range $37,500-45,000, depending on experience.
