Columbus Dispatch seeks a business reporter

The Columbus Dispatch, the daily metro newspaper for one of the most dynamic cities in the Midwest, seeks a reporter to cover the region’s powerful business scene. From Fortune 100 companies to a thriving creative class, Columbus is known for its collegial, get-it-done-together spirit. That’s not to say it’s predictable; the city offers plenty of opportunities for watchdog stories that right wrongs.

About Us

We boast a strong business team of veteran reporters who win awards and dominate on the web with stories that show readers how business affects their lives and vice versa.

About You

Curious, positive, energetic, committed journalist who can balance breaking news and longer-term projects. You’ll cover entrepreneurs, large corporations and economic trend stories that use data to help readers understand what’s happening. Importantly, candidates do not need to have business reporting experience. We are looking for empathetic storytellers with a sixth sense for the stories readers want.

To Do So, Put Together a Single Document File That Includes The Following, In This Order

We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don’t limit your upload to a resume; show us what you’ve done.

  • Your resume – one to two pages
  • A cover letter that outlines how you would approach the job
  • Links to 3-6 online samples of your work. Show us what you’ve written, produced, or had a hand in that best reflects what you can do in your desired role.

It is important that these items be assembled into a single document and uploaded in PDF format. Completing these steps will ensure that your application receives the highest consideration.
