Columbia Regional Business Report seeks editor

The Columbia Regional Business Report is looking for an editor to serve the Midlands business community in South Carolina.

The Business Report provides news and information for a local and statewide audience in collaboration with affiliated publications in Greenville and Charleston, S.C. The editor provides content, editorial direction, leads the newsroom and works with the associate publisher to serve a niche audience of small- and medium-sized businesses.

The Business Report operates in the heart of Columbia, within walking distance of South Carolina’s Statehouse and a vibrant downtown with a lively Main Street, world-class restaurants and an eclectic arts scene. The Business Report publishes daily email news and a biweekly print edition, as well as special sections throughout the year.

Candidates must have well-rounded reporting experience and solid news judgment and an ability to mentor reporters and writers. Some managerial experience is preferred, but assistant editors or strong reporters looking for the next step in running their own paper also will be considered. Photography, digital and social media skills are required for this position.

Other requirements include a bachelor’s degree in journalism or English, clips from a general circulation publication, business-to-business publication or a magazine, and three professional references.

Send resumes and at least three clips to scjournalist@gmail.com.

No phone calls, please. We typically receive many resumes when job openings occur. We will only be able to contact you if we are interested in speaking further about this position.
