Colorado paper seeks business reporter

The Daily Camera in Boulder, Colo., is hiring a full-time business reporter who is comfortable covering rocket scientists as well as owners of local mom-and-pop shops; can turn jargon into plain language; can explain to readers the importance of business to their lives; and has the digital and social media skills to keep our community turning to us for the latest news.

The successful candidate should be able to report and write quickly and clearly in high-pressure, deadline situations, and be comfortable posting directly to the Daily Camera website and managing web content. Furthermore, this reporter must produce enterprising features; regularly network with business leaders and start-up entrepreneurs; and help out with coverage of general assignment news when needed.

Candidates must have a full range of digital skills, with the ability to shoot photos and video, and be willing and ready to learn and master the latest technologies to assist in news gathering and storytelling.

The Daily Camera business reporter works as part of a team that covers Boulder County and southwest Weld County, including Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Erie, Longmont and surrounding communities. This reporter must take charge of the beat and get up to speed quickly in a market that is a hub of high-tech, micro-brewing, agriculture and energy production.

We offer a competitive wage, a benefits package which includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability income, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, and immediate eligibility for paid time off.

Interested individuals should send a resume, cover letter and links to writing samples to jobs@dailycamera.com.
