CoinDesk is looking for reporters to work within its new regulatory team. Applicants should be ambitious and ready to immerse themselves in the leading publication covering how governments and regulators are approaching the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector.
Reporters will be tasked with keeping CoinDesk readers up to speed on important advances in cryptocurrency/blockchain/financial technology policy in the European Union and significant EU markets, which might include but are not limited to the EU itself, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, France, the U.K. and other nations ramping up their approach to crypto. They may also be asked to file stories on breaking news events that occur during their time zone, in coordination with CoinDesk’s EU editor and local reporters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write longer, big-picture articles that give readers insights into trends, people, governments and companies operating in the EU region in this industry.
- Pitch and report original stories.
- Track local court databases and follow legal cases relevant to the industry.
- Write short-form articles on tight deadlines informing our audience about breaking news updates on the regulatory front in significant markets in the EU.
- Come up with original ideas for both ongoing coverage and future initiatives.
- Provide local expertise on issues for multimedia products.
- Develop a regional source base.
- Work in close coordination with team members in other regions.
ABOUT YOU:
- Writing talent through proven work.
- Strong interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency, as well as crypto-adjacent topics like privacy and macroeconomic policies.
- Basic understanding of how cryptocurrencies operate and a willingness to learn more.
- A solid network with local government sources.
