The Producer will be a key member of the CNN Money video organization, developing and end-to-end producing franchise editorial that will resonate across all CNN’s platforms. The role will require a mix of time in the field and in post-production; researching, writing, shooting and editing pieces video in various formats.
The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller, with expert skills in shooting with high-sensor cameras and related gear and a high level of proficiency and speed in the edit suite. He/she must also have a displayed creativity and knowledge of video in the social and mobile space. Sound editorial judgment and creativity are a must, along with an ability to navigate a deadline-driven news organization.
What will you be doing?
- Create, develop, implement and maintain digital content
- Responsible for idea generation
- Determines and maintains the “creative vision” of assigned content and determines and implements technical designs
- May lead a production team in the creative development and technical implementation of smaller low-risk content
- Accountable for the life of assigned content, from release through ongoing refreshes and updates
- Writes and maintains content specifications
- Oversees editing of final product
- Manages assigned production resources and assets
- Monitors schedules and budgets to ensure timely, current and cost effective content
- Works closely with other departments to maximize content revenue
- Leads the activities of a production team comprised of full time, temporary and/or matrixed personnel accountable for content development and production
What do we need from you?
- Ideal candidates will have 4+ years of experience in the field, shooting with DSLR cameras or similar.
- High expertise in post-production software such as Final Cut pro, AfterEffects and similar.
- Deep experience creating video for digital platforms-social, mobile and tablet.
- Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven news environment.
- A portfolio of proven journalistic credentials, showing judgment and creativity.
- Experience creating serialized video franchises from the pitch process to publishing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast high pressure environment. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Television-Film Production, Communications, or related discipline or equiv. work experience.
