CNNMoney seeks director of programming

CNN seeks a director to lead the 24-7 global effort to plan and publish CNNMoney digital content — including tech, media, markets and other essential business stories in all forms — across CNNMoney’s digital platforms globally.

The director leads the effort to craft vivid language, head-turning imagery and presentations across CNNMoney’s desktop and mobile homepages, top stories in text and video, and alerts. S/he is obsessed with stories and how to frame them for different audiences

. S/he has 10-plus years as an editor or reporter and thrives on both breaking news and explanatory journalism. A lover of news and storytelling who sees the programming and distribution possibilities in every development of every story, in words spoken in news meetings, rundowns and slack conversations.

S/he is a data addict, who knows how to use, share and test stories to see that CNNMoney is creating the most essential and engaging experience that draws a unique audience to the brand. This audience may come through the front door of the homepages, or the side doors of search and social.

This is a player-coach role. S/he is a leader who coaches and directs clearly, guiding the team to reach key audience growth goals. This person is a fierce collaborator, leading a team based in New York and Hong Kong.

This position will report into the Executive Editor of CNNMoney and will collaborate extensively with the VP of CNN Digital Programming and her team, and the EP of Social News and her team, along with video team, national and international teams, audience development team and more.

What do we need from you?

-BA preferred or equivalent education/training/experience.
-Good knowledge of business and financial news.
-Must have 10+ years digital experience.
-Must have sound editorial news judgement, an awareness of current business and finance news trends, the ability to produce broadcast quality video stories quickly and efficiently, strong communication skills, excellent teamwork and team-building skills.
