CNNMoney.com is looking for a senior business & luxury travel editor to launch a new line of coverage for the digital and broadcast network.
Coverage will include consumer, business and luxury travel. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the airline, hotel, and hospitality and general travel industries. He or she will be extremely familiar with industry trends and be well sourced with executives and experts.
Content will include a mix of breaking news, exclusives and long-term features and will include both text, video, and interactive packages. This position is primarily a writing role and the ideal candidate will conceptualize, write and edit content focused on a user-driven strategy that understands the nuances of packaging content for the web, mobile web, social (primarily Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and leading social messaging apps), and apps. This individual must prioritize the most social stories and ask two critical questions: 1) is this content native to mobile, and 2) is it shareable?
He/She must combine a passion for travel with driven, innovative, and creative coverage.
Sharp headlines, superb writing, and visual communication strength are a must. This role requires constant communication and coordination with the Executive Editor, Managing Editor, Digital Programming desk and original digital video team for both CNN.com and CNN television.
Qualifications: 6+ years experience in an editorial role at a traditional or digital native news organization covering the travel industry (including but not limited to airline, hotel and hospitality). Strong content management system experience on desktop web, mobile web, and mobile. Passion for developing audiences across web, mobile web, social accounts, through SEO. Strong understanding of mobile, apps, and social (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Experience in a video-led operation a plus. Well sourced and deeply with travel executives, management, experts, and industry leaders.
