CNN International seeks a biz desk editor in New York

The Business News Editor in New York will take the lead in conceptualizing, launching and executing high quality business content for financial and general news programs on CNN International and Digital.

What will you be doing?  

This Business News Editor will identify key business stories/themes and work with reporters and producers to create content for upcoming business news stories, which will make the business programs smart and relevant. 
S/he will also work with guest producers to ensure pitches are in place for CEO’s, Ministers or News Makers. 
S/he will be responsible for liaising with other planning teams at CNN to coordinate coverage, ensuring our Global Business Talent is well-featured across TV and Digital platforms. 
The Business News Editor will highlight breaking or developing business stories to the network and ensure talent or content is available. 
Broadly, the Assignment Editor is responsible for ensuring the wider broadcast operation in NYC functions effectively, including organizational aspects of broadcasting our shows from the New York Stock Exchange or Time Warner Center, and fielding requests from affiliates or other network entities who require NYC production support

What do we need from you?

  • Must have minimum three years of experience in network television or major-market news production.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to identify, propose and execute strong and creative coverage around key financial or economic news.
  • Background in business news is required.
  • Must be highly-organized, meticulous and team-oriented, capable of meeting deadlines and functioning calmly in a high-pressure situation including breaking news.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
