CNN Businss seeks a tech editor

The editor for news at CNN Business is a strong line editor devoted to upholding the highest standards, a willing collaborator who enjoys the company of other journalists, and a professional committed to learning and growing. You’ll work closely with video producers, digital programmers and designers.

We thrive on news and have a fast metabolism. As a news editor, you will work closely on stories about companies, markets, tech and media — you’ll be in the middle of our newsiest coverage. We strive for a distinctive mix of headlines and voice in our work — breaking news, making news, and analyzing the news.

We must tell the “why” in every story we publish. You will help deliver on that mission. CNN is a complex global news organization, and you’ll use your ace interpersonal skills to form connections and collaborate with colleagues around the world.

Your connection-building will start inside CNN Business, which itself is far-flung and spread across time zones with staffers working alongside other CNNers in New York, DC, LA, SF, London, Hong Kong, Delhi and Dubai. CNN takes the training and development of its journalists very seriously.

If you join our team, you’ll be expected to take your work and career with the same earnest professionalism. Your supervisors at CNN Business will help you grow and continuously up your game.

 What do we need from you?

–BA preferred or equivalent education/training/experience.
–Good knowledge of business and financial news.
–Must have 5-7 years digital experience.
–Must have sound editorial news judgement, an awareness of current business and finance news trends, strong communication skills, excellent teamwork and team-building skills.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
